    • Flexible Data Interchange significantly increases efficiency in purchasing by automating manual work steps and standardizing data exchange. Errors in the processing of orders, invoices and other purchasing documents are minimized and documents are processed more quickly. At the same time, companies gain greater transparency across all procurement processes, making it easier to plan and manage purchasing processes. FDI also supports compliance with digital standards so that processes are not only faster but also legally compliant. This combination of speed, accuracy and transparency reduces operational costs, avoids bottlenecks and significantly improves collaboration with suppliers.

    • Flexible Data Interchange processes a variety of document formats, including standardized electronic formats such as EDI, ZUGFeRD or XRechnung, classic PDFs and scanned paper documents via OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This allows companies to automatically capture and process data from a wide variety of sources and transfer it to their systems. This versatility ensures that no documents are lost and no additional manual steps are required, regardless of the original format of the information. This means that even complex supply chains can be managed efficiently without the need for additional interfaces or conversions.

    • Flexible Data Interchange can be seamlessly integrated into existing ERP or procurement systems, allowing data to be automatically exchanged, validated and processed. Supplier and customer data is transferred directly via standardized interfaces so that the flow of information functions without media disruptions. The integration allows different partners, systems and communication channels to be operated simultaneously, avoiding delays, duplication of work or errors in data reconciliation. As a result, companies benefit from an end-to-end process chain and a consistent database that keeps everyone involved up to date in real time.

    • OCR (Optical Character Recognition) makes it possible to automatically recognize data from scanned documents such as invoices, orders or delivery bills and convert them into machine-readable formats. This eliminates the need for manual typing, which is traditionally time-consuming and error-prone. The scanned information can be transferred directly into the procurement and invoicing processes. OCR thus ensures that even older or non-electronically provided documents can be processed efficiently without interrupting the workflow. This extends the flexibility of Flexible Data Interchange and enables complete automation of the data flow.

    • The two standards ZUGFeRD (Germany) and ebInterface (Austria) specify the structures for invoices in XML format. This means that there are uniform specifications as to which fields contain which data! And this has enormous consequences: It means that invoices can be sent between business partners via a simple mailbox. The DIG Portal automatically retrieves the data from this mailbox and, thanks to the standardized format, processes it at full EDI level with just one mapping. For invoices, this means that there are no costs for connections (routing) to the individual suppliers. Business partners, in turn, can provide the required data without any further effort by means of uncomplicated e-mail dispatch.

      This standardization can also be used for other documents via the DIG XML by mail channel: All that is needed is a corresponding agreement regarding the structure of the XML file or an overlap in the ERP systems with regard to formats. An example: If the customer and supplier both use SAP, an SAP IDoc can also be sent via mailbox and processed as with a direct EDI connection. The same also applies to different ERP systems if they are able to output files in the same formats.
